Player of the week goes to Adam Melvin of Haven of Grace. Not only did Melvin score 23 points, he also broke away for two spectacular dunks and nearly connected on an ally-oop as Haven of Grace pulled out their first win of the season.
Haven of Grace vs Calvary Chapel 2
This game was hard fought and close from start to finish as Calvary Chapel 2 tried to keep pace in the standings. Mike Cattaneo and Matt Kaufman kept Calvary Chapel 2 in it scoring 32 of their 45 points.
Haven of Grace's quickness prevailed in the end as they stretched their lead from 3 to 13 late in the second half and spread the ball around nicely with 6 of their 7 players scoring leading to their first win of the season, 58 - 45.
First Baptist vs Calvary Chapel 3
First Baptist began to gel in their last game but the two week layoff really hurt their performance tonight. With Calvary Chapel 3 having the ability to sub in a completely fresh team, having suited 10 players, they clearly always had fresh legs in the game.
Jeremy Anderson played a strong game for Calvary Chapel 3 scoring 10 points and grabbing 10 rebounds. The entire team played great defense and made nice crisp passes as they cruised to a 56 - 21 win.
Calvary Chapel 1 vs Community Baptist
Missing their best offensive force, Colby DaSilva, Community Baptist struggled to find an offensive rythm. Calvary Chapel's defense was running on all cylinders as they stymied any offensive bursts and held Jeremy Hueston to just 6 points. Community Baptist hit five 3-pointers in the second half to try to make up the gap but it simply wasn't enough.
The defense of Calvary Chapel 1 shined tonight as they continued to talk to each other and played excellent help defense. There wasn't anything special about the offense they ran, they just continued to make the extra pass and do the little things to get second opportunities. John Mohan put in an excellent game displaying control and quickness as he scored 24 in their 67 - 39 win.
