Player of the week goes to Brad Roaf of Calvary Chapel 1 who made some nice plays on break aways in scoring 21 points. This was no more exemplified than when a Dana Fisher stopped a Calvary Chapel 3 fast break, out-letted quickly to Brad who made an excellent pass in traffic to a streaking teammate.
Haven of Grace vs. First Baptist
This was by far First Baptists best game of the year. They hung strong with Haven of Grace getting back on defense and new addition Travis Boothman hit some nice shots from downtown.
Haven of Grace was clearly the better team and their athleticism powered them to a 57 - 28 win.
Calvary Chapel 2 vs. Community Baptist
Calvary Chapel 2 once again dominated the boards but lacked the outside shooting to keep up with Community Baptist. Dennis Green had 10 rebounds and 2 nice blocks.
Colby DaSilva did a nice job managing the game, Manny Andrade chipped in with 14 points, and Tim Capozzi hit 5 three pointers in a nice competitive warmup for this weeks first round playoff game, as they cruised to a 54 - 34 win.
Calvary Chapel 1 vs Calvary Chapel 3
In a rematch of a game that came down to the wire just three weeks ago, Calvary Chapel 3 was missing a good portion of their lineup, mainly due to injury. They rebounded well, but without any fresh legs to rotate in to the game, struggled to keep up with a Calvary Chapel 1 team that loves to run.
Calvary Chapel 1 may not have played a great offensive game but made up for it with excellent help defense. The presence of John Bean, who missed their last contest, helped hold Jeremy Anderson to just 6 points.
Playoffs
There are a couple of excellent playoff matchups this week. On thursday Calvary Chapel 1(8 - 0) will take on Haven of Grace(4 - 4) whom they haven't seen since week 2. Haven of Grace has played much better over the last 6 weeks and should have Adam Melvin for the game who missed the first meeting between these two teams.
On friday Community Baptist(6 - 2) will play host to Calvary Chapel 3(4 - 4), another matchup that hasn't seen each other since week 2. Calvary Chapel 3 pulled off the win in that one, handing Community Baptist one of only 2 losses on the season. Both teams are drastically different and pose matchup problems for each other all over the court. Calvary Chapel 3 should have a few players back from injuries as well making this the game to watch.
